Lincomycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. Lincomycin is active
against Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococci, Streptococci
and Mycoplasmas; however it is hardly active against Gram-negative
bacteria such as E. coli. Colistin is an antibiotic from the group of
polymyxins with bactericidal action against Gramnegative bacteria
like E. coli, Haemophilus and Salmonella spp.
