Amoxycillin is a semi-synthetic broad-spectrum penicillin with bactericidal action against Gram- positive and
Gram-negative bacteria. The action is based on inhibition of the bacterial cell wall formation through
interference of the muco-peptide synthesis. Colistin, a cyclic poly-peptide antibiotic has bacterial action against
selected Gram-negative bacteria. The primary bacterial eect of colistin is a blockade of the cell division of
bacteria followed by secondary progressive lysis.
